How are you praying for your community?

One of our passions for Disciple-Making is prayer. I have been leading the charge to train
churches on ways to get outside of their buildings to pray. One of the ways we do that is
through Prayer Walks. We at NCP are praying for more churches to start Prayer Walks in their
community.

Six months ago, I started a Prayer Walk at my home church, Canyon Hills Friends. We
have been walking in the areas around the church on a monthly basis ever since. As we walk, we pray for
our neighbors and place doorhangers advertising events and services at our
church; when the opportunity presents itself, we pray for people we meet on the street. We
have seen some new people from the community come to our church by praying and inviting
our neighbors.

Recently, Alan got a call from Granada Heights Friends Church. Pastor Mike Sanborn wanted to meet and talk about prayer and how to make prayer walking a higher priority for his church. Pastor Mike has a small team of men who are working with him. We are so excited to see how God is moving in this area! We shared some ideas with Pastor Mike and his team—they want to go for it. Please pray for them— along with us as we are asking God to develop a new prayer ministry at Granada Heights Friends Church.

What is God doing with prayer at your church? Is God calling you to do something with prayer
and the community around your church? If He is, please let me know at kenschemmer2@gmail.com. I would love to meet with you.
